The "Sun/Ram" wood sculpture is a whimsical piece I carved. When I looked at the log I saw a ram's head in the burl growth section of the log. I added the sun after carving the ram to give it something extra. The face of the sun seems to have an emotion of warmth and comfort.
The carving is made from a black walnut tree log. The logs come from pruned branches of an existing 110+ year old tree in the state of Michigan. The variation in tones of the wood as the piece is carved add to the overall effect of the sculpture. It is made to be mounted to a wall.
It measures 4" x 4" x 13". Finished in Danish oil and a paste wax topcoat.
