The "Mother Earth" wood sculpture is part of my "Tree Spirit" collection. The Tree Spirit collection are carvings I create from what I see within the piece of wood I select to carve.
Each piece in this collection is made from a black walnut tree log. The logs come from pruned branches of an existing 110+ year old tree in the state of Michigan. The variation in tones of the wood as the piece is carved add to the overall effect of the sculpture. The piece is self standing and would look great on any fireplace mantel or bookshelf.
It measures 5" dia. x 16.50" L. Finished in Danish oil and a paste wax topcoat.
